JournalThoughts, links, and randomness galore! Sunday, March 06, 2005
This weekend was a good time to share laughs and life stories, as we went to Vermont for a retreat. On our way home today, my friend Mark happily devoured two drumsticks (he rotated between a fried chicken leg in one hand and an ice cream Drumstick in the other), but he commented that it was much harder for him to stay in shape since he turned 30. According to Mark, keping fit was like fighting an asymptote (in math, an asymptote is the line that a steep curve approaches): if you slack off a little, you'll suffer badly and quickly. ![]() My friend Allen, a retired cop, agreed. I was was so bummed hearing that this is what I had to look forward to in the next 10 years. "But that's how sin is too," Mark added. How true and freaky! At first you might tell a small lie or steal a look at something innapropriate. Before you know it, your spiritual life has taken a dramatic dip. Mark told me how his friends never dreamt they'd do such-and-such, but it all started when they let themselves go just a little. Life's harsh. But I'm so glad I don't have to be sin phobic, thinking that everything I do will snowball into destruction. I have a God who hates "asymptypical sin" but made up for it by bringing me Jesus. posted by Jessica at 8:59 PM | 0 comments |
