Update: Bill Paying

I reclaimed some of my money from my past fiascos! Here's how.

Earthlink/Roadrunner situation - I asked Time Warner to change the account holder's name, and they said I'd just have to get Christine (the current account holder) to sign a form. Um, they forgot to mention that there's a $20 paperwork fee (How does it cost $20 to type in someone's name on the computer?), and I'd need to send a utility bill in my name to prove that I'm a resident of the apartment. Not only do I not have any bills in my name, but in a worse case scenario, I'd be in the hole another $20 and not get the Dell rebate. Consider my $75 Internet rebate lost.

Sprint phone rebate - I don't know if I really want to commit for another year. I was too lazy to re-contact the rebate department.

Sprint voice dialing discount - I called up Sprint, and they insisted that I'd have to contact Costco for the $5. The Sprint rep gave me a firm "No, I'm not deducting that charge." I insisted the Costco deal was standard and refused to make another phone call. Then I got a "Will you hold?" (a glimmer of hope came upon me) and then the magic words: "I'm taking away the $5 charge." That just goes to show you: if a customer service rep gives you a "No," keep saying "Yes" until you get what you want.

So yay, it's two weeks later, and I have an extra $5. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Or maybe just cheap.
